There has been much confusion in the Body of Christ in recent years about what we must rely on God to do in the process of making us more Christ-like and what we must do ourselves.  Often we feel like holiness just isn't attainable because we fail to rely on the empowering grace of God. But often we err in the other direction and fail to take personal responsibility for developing ourselves in the life of holiness.  The reality is we need both: a reliance on God and an understanding of our own responsibility, and this teaching will help you understand the difference and how to walk them out in practical application.  

Did you know the Bible teaches that we are to live in such a way as to avoid even the APPEARANCE of evil?  That's right.  It tells us that we should not only avoid outright evil, but even the appearance or perception of it, even if the act itself is innocent.  Based on the 14th chapter of Romans, this teaching illuminates the true standard of holiness we should be striving for, one that concerns itself with the welfare of others.   

In our quest for holiness, we must get delivered from the curse of comparison -- comparing ourselves to other people, that is.  People who are trapped in the bondage of comparison run the risk of either falling into the ditch of pride or going off the ditch on the other side into self-defeat and discouragement.  This teaching will help you to get free from that mindset and discover the focus of true holiness, one that results in freedom from comparison and allowing for a joy-filled pursuit of God.  

Have you ever wondered why your relationship with God isn't more vibrant, or why you don't seem to hear the voice of God like other people or sense His will and direction?  If that describes you, this might be a very enlightening and life-changing teaching, because it demonstrates how perceiving God and His will is connected to the level of holiness we walk in.  

The holiness of God is not a common topic in most pulpits these days.  But if we are to truly understand the nature of God, we must understand this aspect of His character.  And if we are to truly live successful and fruitful lives as Christians, we absolutely must understand the holiness of God because He commands His children to be Holy because He is holy.  This aspect of God's character, in fact, is His most important attribute according to the Word of God.  Therefore, it falls on us to understand holiness in the fear of the Lord.   

As believers in Christ, we have been delegated authority by Jesus Himself to reign and rule on the earth, as well as the responsibility to use that authority to advance God's Kingdom.  

Did you know that in America 250 pastors per month leave the ministry, and up to 10,000 churches close their doors per year?  Why does that happen?  One of the reasons is that too many church goers have no concept of how God has ordained the church to help people experience occasional challenges and hardships that will make us mature and complete if only people would learn to stick around long enough for those frustrations to make them strong.  Learn in this teaching the unfavorable results of escapism, and the wonderful results of "allowing perseverance to finish its work."  

Did you know that God not only requires assembling together in public worship, but He also has standards for our attitudes toward His Church and while in those gatherings?  This teaching will focus on those proper attitudes, but also provide yet another glimpse of God's great love toward His people and how that is love is expressed.  

As followers of Christ, we need to acknowledge 2 things: 1) God has the right to tell us what to do, and 2) we are no longer in the driver's seat of our lives when we sign up to be Christ followers -- Jesus is.  As such, there are certain non-negotiables in walking with Christ, and one of those is the command to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together.  But it is not a command without benefits.  This teaching will focus on more HUGE benefits of being regular attendees of a local church.
