PRINCIPLES OF WISE STEWARDSHIP: Money Matters pt. 6

Did you know that Jesus talked about money more than any other topic except salvation itself?  Money issues are important for many reasons, but spiritually speaking, how God's people handle their money actually reveals the condition of the heart and what is important to them.  Therefore, it's important to know what the Bible says about issues like taxes, saving, and other matters related to personal finance.

Jesus predicted that a day would come when ministers in sheep's clothing who are really ravenous wolves would deceive and take advantage of God's people.  In this teaching we examine several red flags to look out for when deciding where to give your contributions.  In learning good stewardship of God's things, we must learn to not be so gullible and understand that not every minister who claims to speak for God actually is.

Did you know that if your household makes $52,000 per year or more that you are in the top 0.28% of the world's richest people?  That's right.  At that income you are among the top wage earners in the world!  And Jesus said that to whom much is given, much will be required (Luke 12:48).  This teaching continues with the requirement of God's people in matters relating to money, in particular that of generosity.

It has been said, "Show me your financial records and I'll show you what's important to you."  Jesus put it another way: "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."  Money matters because how you handle it is a reflection on your heart, character, and level of love for the Kingdom of God.  Since Jesus spoke about money more than any other issue other than salvation itself, we, too, should be familiar with a Biblical perspective related to finances.

WHAT NOW? Faith and Politics; A Post-Election Message

DOES GOD CARE ABOUT POLITICS?  And should Christians be involved in the political process?  Many Christians pray for God's Kingdom to come, but they do so with an ESCAPIST MENTALITY, hoping that Jesus will come back and rescue them from the decay we see around us.  But Jesus told us to "OCCUPY" until He comes back, which means to be busy working advancing His Kingdom, bettering mankind, and effecting societies and, yes, even governments.  In the aftermath of the most historic Presidential election since Abraham Lincoln, Christians now have the opportunity to affect sociey in a way not seen since the Emancipation Proclamation, and we cannot blow this chance God has graciously given us.  This teaching explains a little of what our mindset should be going forward after the Presidential election.
